Its
these details that allow us to give a three year "no leak", and ten year
structural warranty on all buildings!
Unlike
other concrete building construction techniques, all GFRC Shelters
are built around a structural steel frame that give our buildings
their unique strength and ruggedness.
The
outer walls of the building are glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC)
architectural panels that are attached to the steel frame using "bonding
rods" embedded in the GFRC panel.
The
panels "float" away from the steel frame. This allows
them to freely expand and contract eliminating a common source of
cracking.
The
steel frame is welded to the floor using a series of weld pads embedded
in the concrete.
The
roof is lowered onto, and then welded to the steel frame. The roof
is not "forced"
to fit over the walls.
But
sometimes its the details that really count. On the underside
of the roof we put a small half-round channel that keeps rain water
(espeically drizzly rain) from clinging to the bottom of the roof
and putting pressure on the caulk joint at the wall.
